Between Grand Haven and Hudsonville
Georgetown Township is the drive between two better-known towns. Grand Haven is the lake. Hudsonville is the next center inland, with Chicago Drive as its main street. Between them is Jenison and the rest of the township, mostly housing and the commercial strip.
Chicago Drive, signed as M-121 through here, is how you cross it. The road is not a scenic bypass and it is not a place to park for a walk. Farms give way to subdivisions and then to the Jenison frontage. If you stay on it, you will reach Grandville and the Grand Rapids edge before you have chosen a stop.
The honest visitor use is to know what you are passing. This is not a harbor and not a downtown. It is the populated stretch that makes Grand Haven and Hudsonville feel closer on a map than they are as places. A park or the township’s own streets can be a ten-minute turn if you already have a reason. They are not a substitute for the lake.
Do the lake town or the inland town as the destination. Let Georgetown be the land between, seen clearly, without forcing a main street onto a corridor that does not have one.
