Michigan Travel · Bedford Township
The state line towns
The Michigan side of the Toledo edge is Bedford Township. A visitor looking for a main street will not find one town center. Lambertville and Temperance are the two places with names, spread across the township rather than stacked on a square.
The honest stop is small. Drive the local roads enough to see that this is still Michigan: the school signs, the township hall in Temperance, the older houses mixed with newer lots. Then, if the water is the reason you came this far south, leave the township and go east to Sterling State Park, the state park on Lake Erie near Monroe. That is the shore. Bedford is the land before it.
Toledo is right there, and it will pull a day toward Ohio if you let it. This route stays on the Michigan side. The state line is the subject, not a gateway to a city across it.
Early October does not add a harbor town here. There isn’t one. What you get is flat lake-plain country, creeks headed for Erie, and two unincorporated centers that never pretended to be resorts. That is the visit, and it is short on purpose.
